Earlier this month, the National Trust
launched a nationwide campaign to encourage sofa-bound children to
take to the outdoors and enjoy classic adventures from skimming
stones to building dens.
Launching as a response to the recently published Natural
Childhood report, the campaign supports the Getting Outdoors and
Closure to Nature programme, aiming to ensure every child in
England, Wales and Northern Ireland has the chance to develop a
personal connection with nature by age 12.
Collated from the hundreds of fantastic suggestions you provided
the final list of '50 things' focuses on inspiring adventures which
establish a close connection with nature through physical activity,
adventure or even an element of danger! Including everything from
running around in the rain and bug hunting, to setting up a snail
race, damming a stream, flying a kite and making a (delicious) mud
pie. Look at the latest selection of images from our
collection 50 Things.
Visitors to the 220+ participating properties will be able to
collect a '50 things' scrapbook to log each of their 50 adventures,
whether completed at a National Trust property or somewhere close
to home.
