To find a potential location for professional filming and commercial photography, you can explore this site in a number of different ways.

1) Find a location by browsing the following pages:-

All Features

This is an alphabetical list of specific types of interiors, such as attics, ballrooms, bedrooms, cellars.

All Buildings

A comprehensive list of building types, such as barns, chapels, castles, hotels and watermills.

All Outdoors

Elements found in landscapes (such as deer parks, lakes and mountains), gardens (eg. mazes, orchards and topiary) and coastlines (beaches, cliffs and harbours)

Period/Style

Listings by historic period (eg Tudor, Victorian etc), by building style (Gothic, Modernist etc) or by century - particularly useful where historical authenticity is vital to your project

All Regions

If geographical location is a crucial factor, you can search here for places within your reach, their proximity to major cities and transport routes or by specific counties or regions

2) Select  your key criteria

For example, you may be looking for cellars and castles, in Wales, North. By selecting those features and going to View Locations, you can access  details and photos of National Trust places that may match your criteria.

3) Contact us

Our highly experienced Film Office staff can advise on filming and photography location fees, any restrictions at particular sites, conservation measures and the insurance requirements; you must have £5 million Public Liability and Indemnity Insurance cover for professional filming or commercial photography at any NT site. 4) The paperwork

Download the enquiry form as a Word document, complete it (typed), then send it back to us at filmoffice@nationaltrust.org.uk. Please scan and attach your insurance details at the same time. We will then contact you to discuss your request, and to arrange a reccy (highly recommended).
